Stirling MSc Students Visit EWOS
EWOS recently played host to Masters degree students from the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling. The diverse group of 32 students from 22 different countries spent the morning touring the factory and were given an overview of feed production technologies and some commercial insight into the local and global feed industry.
Lead by Dr Kim Jauncey, the experience helped students understand not only the complexity of fish feed manufacture but also the awareness required within the market including consumer perception, retailer requirements, and the responsible sourcing of raw materials. The students were also introduced to EWOS’ Ecofootprint and carbon emission models.
Dr. Jauncey commented on the trip "The students found it very enlightening and it was good for them to experience the commercial side of feeds and feed production."
EWOS maintains links with the Institute of Aquaculture in Stirling and several cohorts of students from the Institute of Aquaculture have visited the factory at Westfield.
On the visit, David Morrice, Sales Manager of EWOS Scotland said "It is important to maintain contact and relationships with the next generation of fish farmers, fish vets and scientists involved in aquaculture. Information exchange is a vital component to the success of sustainable aquaculture and it is good to see so many new talents progressing through the Institute."
EWOS wish the students all the very best with their future endeavours.
