
Opening of a New Feed Storage Facility in Mallaig

EWOS are delighted to announce the opening of a new storage facility recently in Mallaig. The new feed storage facility was built as a collaborative project with Mallaig Harbour Authority with significant financial support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
On the opening of the facility Douglas Low, Managing Director of EWOS Scotland said “We would like to congratulate Mallaig Harbour Authority on the completion of the new feed storage warehouse and we’re looking forward to commencing feed distribution from the port. Mallaig will be the operational base for our delivery vessel the MV Fame which services salmon farms on the West Coast, Western Isles and Shetland.”
EWOS chose Mallaig because of its location, facilities and road links and the progressive attitude of the Harbour Authority to new development and investment. Douglas added “We have enjoyed working closely with them for the last 10 months and they have delivered an excellent facility.”
The new storage facility will be used to enable large quantities of feed to be delivered flexibly to EWOS’ customers in the area. There is also the prospect of further development of fish farming in the area, with such a facility well placed to supply provide feed supply and storage options for new farming sites.
Karen McLeod, Logistics Manager of EWOS Scotland said “The new storage capacity at Mallaig will provide EWOS Scotland with an excellent hub to meet our customer’s feed delivery requirements both now and in the future. The significant investment by Highlands and Islands Enterprise in the project is welcomed and is testament to the increasing importance of salmon farming industry to the port and the North West highlands.”
