EWOS sponsor key Marine Conservation Society event addressing Feed Sustainability
EWOS were proud to sponsor the Marine Conservation Society’s “Fishing the Feed of the Future – Alternative Choices for Aquafeeds” event held in Edinburgh this week. The event brought together many key stakeholders including retailers, trout and salmon producers and feed companies to discuss the critical issues in adopting more sustainable aquafeeds for the aquaculture industry in the U.K.
In a context of increasing demand for the global fishmeal and fish oil resource, the event generated significant discussion amongst key stakeholders about the use of alternative feed ingredients to improve sustainability of salmonid diets.
Dawn Purchase, Aquaculture Manager at the Marine Conservation Society said
“The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) is delighted that EWOS are contributing to the sponsorship of the key feed event: Fishing the Feed of the Future – Alternative Choice for Aquafeeds. MCS feel that being able to hold this event and to share information, discuss issues and explore solutions to the growing need for a long-term and ecologically sustainable source of feed ingredients is both timely and fundamental to the future development of global aquaculture.”
EWOS innovation has devoted considerable amounts of research effort into moving feeds away from marine raw materials through its Marine Independence Programme.
